New All-Day Cafe With Cocktails and THC Drinks Opens in Govalle

This month, a new all-day cafe and bar is opening in East Austin, taking over what had been Austin Eastciders’ tasting room. Stargazer is opening in Govalle at 979 Springdale Road, Suite 130 starting on Friday, November 15.

Stargazer’s drinks menu is a wide-appealing one. There are the usual coffees, as well as specialty ones like the Golden Moon with espresso, turmeric, and black pepper or the Lion Star mocha with espresso, lion’s mane mushrooms, and chocolate. There are alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails; the former includes the frozen Galatic Grapefruit with tequila and the Rum Punch Mothership with rum, apple cider, lemon, and ginger; the latter has drinks like the Berry Boost with raspberry, lime, and basil or the frozen Tamarind Trip with tamarind, lime, lemon, and agave.

The bar also emphasizes drinks with CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). People can add CBD to existing drinks, and there’s a special THC drink menu, with items like the Calexo Citron with apple, lemon, sparkling water, and hemp; and the Louie Louie Satsuma with agave, orange, satsuma, cinnamon, thyme, and hemp. Then there are wines and draft beers.

Food-wise, Stargazer has two food trucks. There’s inherited food truck Dripping Springs Tender Co. (which had been operating during Austin Eastciders’ tenure) with chicken tenders and sides. And then there’s Santo Patio with tacos.

Stargazer’s counter will also serve tons of other foods. There are gluten-free pastries by bakery Maaribu, prepared meals by Lucky Lime, kolaches from Batch, and ice cream scoops by Lick Honest Ice Creams. People can also place pickup orders from next-door pizzeria Bambino via QR codes.

Stargazer co-owners Moya McIntyre and Colin McIntyre also run the next-door event venue Springdale Station. They picked the name after their favorite flower and the newly installed rocket spaceship structure in the children’s play area. Other revamps to the space include new tables and umbrellas, landscaping, and more.

For Stargazer’s first day, there will be a bunch of specials and events. From 7 a.m. to noon, there will be buy-one-get-one-free coffees. The first 50 kids get one free ice cream scoop. Then, from 6 to 10 p.m., there will be a party with drinks, a DJ, a band, and a floral bouquet bar.

Austin Eastciders’ tasting room, dubbed the Collaboratory, opened in 2017. The Austin-born cider company merged with Michigan-based Blake’s Hard Cider in 2023.

Stargazer’s hours will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas.
