A Clarksville bakery opens the first of its two planned Austin expansions this month courtesy of its parent company McGuire Moorman Lambert. Swedish Hill’s West Lake Hills bakery opened at 3663 Bee Caves Road, Suite 4A on Monday, November 25.

Swedish Hill Westlake serves a menu similar to its older sibling's. Expect baked goods like sweet and savory croissiants (almond, ham-gruyere.), danishes, cookies (chocolate chunk-sea salt, ginger molasses), cakes (pistachio-cranberry), and bread.

The morning breakfast menu includes granola bowls, breakfast tacos and sandwiches, and chia pudding breakfast bowls. The late-morning-into-afternoon lunch menu includes sandwiches like the tuna melt with cheddar cheese, smoked turkey, the chicken salad pesto crunch, and the pastrami Reuben; and various rotisserie chicken options. The all-day menu includes bagels with schmears and lox; avocado toasts; deli-style salads like curried chickpeas, pulled rotisserie chicken salad, roasted meats, and egg salad; and soups. Drinks include coffee and espresso drinks, hot teas, juices, beer, and wine.

This Swedish Hill took over what had been a location of French bistro Blue Dahlia. It closed in April, and its sole remaining location is out in San Marcos. Aesthetically, it looks like the other bakery with blue and white motifs, a service counter, and a patio.

Now that Swedish Hill’s Westlake bakery is open, its next focus is expanding onto South First. It’s taking over what had been a former location of the short-lived Chicago-based convenience store Foxtrot, which should happen in early 2025.

And then, the original Swedish Hill bakery is currently operating out of a temporary space on West Sixth because McGuire Moorman Lambert is turning the entire block into a new mixed-use development, Sixth&Blanco. The revamped and relocated bakery will open in 2027. There’s also another location of Swedish Hill in the Aspen Art Museum in Colorado.

Swedish Hill was originally called Sweetish Hill Bakery when it operated from the 1970s into 2018. That’s when McGuire Moorman bought the business and renamed it Swedish Hill.

Swedish Hill’s Westlake hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Takeout orders can be placed in person; online orders will be available later; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services.
